How CISOs Can Secure Board Communication

Γραμμένο απόεπί 30/05/2024

In a time where cybercrime has risen boards with a goal face a number of challenges to achieve their goals. Effective communication and strong connections among board members are crucial to ensure the long-term success of an organization.

The increased attention paid to cybersecurity and the increasing requirements of regulatory agencies place an increased burden on board secretaries general counsels, and chief information security officers (CISOs) to improve board member communications. Despite their best efforts, many governance experts struggle to keep board communications organized and secure. Therefore, it’s not common for confidential internal communication regarding governance to be sent through insecure communication channels — such as personal email which can put organizations at risk of security breaches and regulatory penalties.

It is crucial that CISOs take steps to implement board-management solutions that permit private and group communication and collaboration. This includes implementing board portal software that is user-friendly and mobile-friendly. Video conferencing tools are needed to guarantee reliable and secure virtual meetings. Instant messaging platforms and document collaboration tools are important for facilitation of efficient and collaborative interactions between board members.

Additionally, CISOs must report to the board using business language and terms to ensure that they convey the importance of cybersecurity concerns to the company’s bottom line. Instead of stating that there is an increased chance of a breach or a breach that could cost an organization X dollars. This helps put the issue my site in context and creates an effective conversation regarding the best course of action.
